Boyd allowed Franklin Christian Academy to storm back from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win a shocker Friday night at J.K. Stanley Gymnasium.

The Broncos were up 60-46 early in the fourth, only to watch Franklin Christian explode for 32 points and claim a 78-70 win.

Christian Rogers led Boyd with 30 points, while Sam Page scored 17.

Franklin Christian was led by the powerhouse duo of Lathan Hard with 32 points and Drew Roberson with 24. Hard scored 22 points in the fourth quarter alone.

Facing one of the best teams in the conference, the game looked like it might be a signature win for Boyd (7-11) well into the fourth quarter. But that’s when everything started to go right for Franklin Christian.

Boyd didn’t make enough of its foul shots and allowed too many interior baskets and second- chance points in the closing minutes.

The Broncos were down by 2 points, 72-70, with :58 left, but missed both of their free throws with a chance to tie the game. They wouldn’t score again and Franklin rattled off its final 6 points from the foul line.

Boyd saw three key players foul out late in the game – Cameron Chilcutt, Christian Rogers, and Jon McGee.
