Juicy’s Wellness Café made a push for the boys youth league ages 9-11 semifinal playoff spot Tuesday, after Monday’s win against A-Plus Fasteners put them in position to fast-track the double-elimination tournament.Bob Young’s Nursery, entering the tournament with a bye in round one, had other ideas and sent Juicy’s into a must-win scenario against Edward Jones with a 4-0 victory over the Wellness Cafe.Alex van Vuuren started Bob Young’s Nursery off on the right foot after leading the team on offense with a run in the top of the first. Van Vuuren also took the mound in the bottom of the inning keeping Juicy’s offense off balance for the rest of the contest with 14 strikeouts and the shutout.Camron Perry and van Vuuren added 2 runs for Bob Young’s in the third inning and Aiden Young tacked on 1 run for good measure in the fourth for the win.With the win, Bob Young’s moves forward to play Brent’s Computers on Monday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have developed a fierce rivalry.Juicy’s Wellness Café’s played Donald Hillis on Thursday night at McMinnville Civic Center. Results were not available at press time.
