Bronco Isaiah Blanton led all scoring with 21 points Saturday night against a very physical Franklin Christian Academy defense.

Saturday night, the Falcons from Franklin Christian Academy flew into Westwood to take on the Boyd Christian Broncos.
The Falcons have a 0-7 district record and they brought the fight to the 9-1 Broncos. Saturday might have very well been the most physical game for Boyd in a while, but the Broncos kept the Falcons grounded late and at the end Boyd won, 57-51.
Boyd’s Isaiah Blanton stepped up big when he needed to and led all scorers to finish with 21 points.
With the third quarter winding down and :04 to play, FCA called timeout and it was exactly what the Falcons needed. The inbounds pass went to a Falcon who had gotten loose and he found the bottom of the net and claimed the lead for FCA at the buzzer, 39-36.
FCA quickly jumped out to five-point lead to start the fourth quarter, but Boyd would answer. After trading baskets with FCA, Bronco Tyler Judkins connected on back-to-back baskets in the paint getting the Broncos within one, 45-43.
FCA turned the ball over and Blanton for Boyd would find an open look and he pulled the trigger on a deep 3-pointer to reclaim the lead at 46-45 with 4:10 to play. Blanton would get the ball back with relentless defense and he would make good on his effort scoring a two-point basket this time and Boyd led 48-45.
The Falcons refused to quit with nothing to lose and everything to gain. FCA hit to pull within a single point, 48-47 with 1:56 to play.
Tyler Beaty was ready to unleash his assault on the rim and Beaty pulled the trigger on a 3-point shot which found its mark and Boyd was out front 51-47. FCA answered with an inside basket, 51-49.
One more time for Boyd, Blanton drove the lane and got up a shot and also got a whistle. The shot dropped and Blanton made good on a three-point play for the Broncos, 54-49, and the rest was free throws.
A couple of turnovers and FCA trying to save the clock resulted in Colin Stubblefield and Blanton picking up foul shots in the closing seconds. FCA did hit in the closing seconds in a losing effort and the buzzer sounded giving Boyd the win, 57-51.
Saturday night’s game was very physical with a Falcon leaving the game in the opening quarter with an inadvertent busted lip. The player would return looking to retaliate and the officials issued a warning to both players involved from both teams. Nothing came easy Saturday night for either team.
The third quarter for Boyd was very sluggish and the Broncos had lots of trouble executing but quickly righted their wrongs in the final period.
The physical play by Judkins and Blanton led their Broncos to a win over the FCA Falcons.
