Maybe the Covenant Academy soccer teams have secured all the Infinity Stones because the Lions have become extremely powerful.
The Covenant high school and middle school teams both won Tuesday night against Dayspring, followed by the high school team winning in the first round of the tournament on Friday.
In the matchups against Dayspring, the Covenant middle school team won 5-0 with Beckham Scott, Caleb Hines, Jackson Jones and Vansh Patel all scoring goals. James Hines was in goal for the shutout.
The high school won 9-0 with Alex Stovall, Caleb Stovall, Terry Hines, Caleb Hines and Elijah Smith all scoring goals. Smitt Patel was in goal. The game ended 15 minutes early due to the mercy rule.
“I was proud of the way both teams played,” said Covenant coach Chris Madewell. “We knew that we had a better record than Dayspring, but I didn’t want us to come in overconfident. We didn’t. The players went out and played hard and played good technical soccer. They worked well with one another. Before the game I stressed to them that we needed to get better this game no matter what their record is. I feel like we did just that.”
The Covenant high school team followed its Tuesday win with a 7-1 victory over Lancaster Christian Academy on Friday.
