Hailey Reynolds of Auto World blasts a 2 RBI double Monday night in Youth League softball in Morrison.

Auto World sped away with an 18-5 victory Monday night against The Detention in Youth League softball action in Morrison.

Auto World jumped out to an early 12-1 lead then put it in cruise control to bring home the win.

Perhaps drawing inspiration from coach Jason Rucker, who wore a pink tutu while coaching the team, Auto World showed better skill at hitting, pitching and fielding. Coach Rucker said he might have to wear pink for every game if the team is going to play that well when he does.

Auto World shortstop Hailey Reynolds came up with a spectacular catch on a bloop hit that looked like it might fall behind second base. But Reynolds made a quick break toward the bag and made a jump catch that had her looking like a ballerina in midair.

Auto World pitcher Peyton Rucker solidified the defense from the middle of the infield, making several crucial stops and getting outs at first base. Most importantly, Rucker threw strikes and didn’t walk batters.

Auto World broke the game open in the second inning thanks to timely hitting and several walks. Karianna Ferrell, Madison Hillis and Lake Reed were among the players with base hits. Matthew Breedlove and Reynolds both had crushing hits with Reynolds collecting 2 RBIs with her shot to the outfield.

The Detention tried to rally late but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit.
