Trophies were awarded for the runners who placed Tuesday in the Stars and Stripes Fun Run in downtown McMinnville.A second award was given just afterwards to Doug Milner, owner and president of Dr Pepper Bottling Company, making him the second member in the Warren County Runners Hall of Fame, joining the late Danny Stubblefield who was inducted in 2013. A brick bearing Milner’s name can be found on the sidewalk in front of the McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce.The Warren County Runners Hall of Fame is part of the Middle Tennessee Milers and part of the Main Street McMinnville program, both of which are annotated on the brick as MTM & MSM along with the year of the inductee.Milner is also among an elite group of athletes honored on the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame plaque displayed at Security Federal Savings Bank honoring outstanding athletes over the years. The program has just had a resurgence after several years of hiatus and you can find a ballot in the Southern Standard to nominate athletes for future inclusion.“If it wasn’t for Doug Milner there wouldn’t be a fun run or Middle Tennessee Milers,” said Blaine Wilcher, MTM official.
