Writing a story about Warren County native Lester Strode, now bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs playing in the World Series, I found out about one reason folks claim the Cubs haven’t made it this far for 71 years … the Billy Goat Curse.According to the curse, in 1945 a local fan William “Billy Goat” Sianis brought his pet goat Murphy to the game for luck. The owner, P.K. Wrigley, refused to admit the goat and when asked why, he said the goat stinks. Long story short, Sianis said the Cubs wouldn’t win anymore.
