A popular feature that dates back more than 50 years in the Southern Standard has been axed.Beginning this year, the newspaper has been forced to stop our time-honored tradition of publishing a picture of the first baby of the year, commonly called the New Year's Baby. This bouncing bundle of joy has appeared on our front page since the 1950s. As is usually the case, one disgruntled family is to blame for spoiling what had been an uplifting feature for the rest of us.
