So much is happening right now in Warren County sports only one full day into the 2015-2016 school year. The Pioneer golf team is already into the swing of things. I know, I know.
So I have picked up a couple of golf matches so far this year, both held in Cookeville, and the most annoying thing about the second tournament was only the fact parents of the golfers had taken all the golf carts.
It’s probably not the worst thing in the world but picture this: a group of four young golfers headed in the general direction of the green. As all four golfers approach the green, four separate golf carts followed with only one parent per cart. Really?
The high school golfer has to walk the course and they must push, pull, or carry his or her own clubs. It just struck me funny that four parents had to have four separate carts. I guess it’s just the world we live in now.
Another thing that struck me odd were parents who walked right up to the green to video their child chipping or putting with a cellphone. I definitely know that is the world we live in. Everyone wants to be first to post or share and I am guilty on occasion. I just feel like there is a time and place for it.
I am very far away with my camera and I cannot imagine being up so close to the action with my hand extended to get the shot. I will just try and continue to work around those who choose to be first to get the shot. I actually got photobombed at the tournament so this small rant was justified.
Don’t mind me but do remember the player or players you are trying to shoot and give them their space. It could be the difference in a par or a bogey.
I have seen two very dominant middle school teams this week. Warren County Middle School soccer and football each have started their seasons with impressive wins. I saw both teams on Thursday evening and the WCMS soccer set the tone early. The girls went on the attack and never looked back.
I could say the same thing about the WCMS football team. The Pioneers lowered their shoulder and laid the wood to their opponents. The Pioneers definitely have size on their size so if everyone can stay healthy no telling how far they might go. It is hard to say only being one game into the season.
By the time you read my next column I will have seen the high school Lady Pioneer soccer team and volleyball teams in action. Get out and support your Warren County teams and lets all have a great 2015-2016 season. Right on.
