Here we are at the close of another school year. Tonight is graduation and I am sure there are some students who have waited for this moment for quite some time, maybe even marking the days off their calendar.
Many of you, although you are excited, deep down inside you might be just a touch nervous even though you probably would never admit it. This next chapter in life will define you and how you handle this new-found freedom. College is just around the corner for many and my best advice would be do not squander it away.
College is so much different than anything you have been through thus far. They will not chase you down if you are not in class and want to know where you were if you miss. College is serious and it is my hopes you treat it as such. You will be responsible for getting yourself up and making it to class on time.
I wish I could say I made it through an entire year with most of you, but starting on Oct. 31, knocked me out of several sports like Lady Pioneer volleyball and soccer. I didn’t see any golf this year but I do look forward to all of these perhaps next season.
But for those graduating, whether you choose to further your studies and continue your athletic careers, good luck. Go as far as you can possibly go, you only get one shot at this and once it’s gone, it’s gone. It is not going to be easy and it will require a lot of hard work. We have several ladies and gentlemen who are planning to further their athletic careers in golf, soccer, and baseball.
If you are not going to college for sports, go get your education. That is the one thing no one can ever take from you when there is nothing else. You will never regret furthering your education and you just never know when it might come in handy.
I would be lying if I told you I was not excited about next season in Warren County sports. For a little bit I would totally bypass the summer sports season and just jump head first into the 2015-2016 season. With a new football head coach in place and several other changes in the coaching staff being made, he is ready to get things kicked off.
But it does not just stop there we have some changes in the Lady Pioneer basketball program and with the Pioneer roster set. All that remains is the freshman team. The Pioneers lost three seniors last year and will only have two seniors this year. They will still be a very young team and you should be excited to see where they are at over the next year or so.
The Pioneers are very deep in junior and sophomore talent and this does not even compare to the arsenal of elementary school players that are headed to high school in the next year or two. Right on.
