So it’s down to the wire this season in the NFL and the Tennessee Titans are nowhere in sight for obvious reasons. Many of you are probably concerned somewhat with the future of the organization. The Titans are holding the No. 1 first-round draft pick after all.
Landing Marcus Mariota in the first round last season left many football fans excited about this season in Nashville. Much to my surprise and many others, the season turned into a complete wash but according to former head coach Mike Munchak, the Titans were close.
I guess they were not as close as he first thought. Maybe we simply misunderstood and he meant the Titans were close to the bottom? Nevertheless we have a great opportunity to shake things up next season, maybe.
I want to go on record and say if we do not meet expectations next season, I will still watch. Because that’s what we do. We stick with our teams and our programs through the good times and the bad.
I have watched many ups and downs in my short stint as sports writer. I have picked up my fair share of friends on Facebook also. Not exactly sure why. My first thought was maybe people think I go home and talk about sports when I am not working.
I can assure you that is not the case. I love sports but I have made so many friends throughout the entire county I cannot possibly like and comment on every single picture or post. If I miss something people may tend to think, oh he only likes certain teams or athletes from certain parts of the county.
That could not be any further from the truth. I just choose not to say much anymore and spend most of my time trolling various pages and groups.
I enjoy reading your thoughts and comments on sports inside Warren County and beyond. The Tennessee-Alabama comments are the best and get better all the time.
Early in the season many of the Big Orange faithful blasted Butch Jones and were ready to string him up. By the end of the year, Jones was signing a new contract and being paid more money. It’s the ups and downs in sports that leave people wanting more. The next game could be different and anything can happen.
So with only a few weeks left it looks to me like the Carolina Panthers are a lock for the Super Bowl. Cam Newton appears to be playing at the highest level of his career. The other three games are anyone’s to win as far as I am concerned. Kind of reminds me of the Vikings, whom I picked last week. Right on.
