Last Tuesday, Republicans routed their Democratic rivals in a tidal wave of victories, resulting in a 52-45 GOP majority in the Senate, historic gains in their House majority, and stunning gubernatorial wins in traditionally “blue states.”The GOP’s primary goal was regaining control of the Senate, which it did in stellar fashion, thereby consigning Democrat Senate majority leader Harry Reid to the dustbin of history, to be replaced by current Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell come January 2015.Among the most watched Senate races, the GOP won impressive victories in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, and West Virginia.
