Can we please have someone qualified and not 80 or pushing 80 run for president? Please? Pretty please? I mean come on. What are we doing?
Apparently Joe Biden is running for president again and I am so annoyed. I was annoyed when he was running the first time, but now I think this is just embarrassing. I am not ashamed to say I originally voted for Elizabeth Warren, so Biden was definitely not my first choice and it is no secret that I didn’t vote for Trump. I just don’t think it is a great idea to have an 80-year-old man as president.
When people are 80 they usually retire and take it easy, not, you know, walk around with the nuclear launch codes. They walk at the mall, not go to other countries and possibly cause a war. If I ever make it to 80, I am absolutely positive I won’t want to do anything stressful. There are plenty of 80-year-olds who are on top of things and in great health, but I think Biden has already demonstrated he is not.
Apparently Trump is running again too which I also think is stupid. He is 76 years old and, again, most people that age prefer to just take it easy, not run for president. He has also demonstrated time and time again that he is unqualified. Does anyone remember when he suggested injecting bleach as a way to prevent COVID-19? Or maybe the time he thought taking top secret documents was a good idea? Actually apparently they both have done that, which again proves my point.
I miss when presidents were actually respectable people to look up to. I would like to not be embarrassed by a president either mocking a disabled person or something else horrendous like Trump did, or by Biden saying something wild. Also, Trump might be arrested for a lot of crimes and, call me crazy, but I don’t think you should be able to run for president while you are indicted. I just think that is self-explanatory, but I guess it isn’t.
You have to be 35 or older to run for president and I am just wondering why there is not a cutoff age. It would make sense. I also wish there was a cutoff age for anyone in an elected position. I learned the other day that Nancy Pelosi is 83! She was the speaker of the house up until she was 82. Mitch McConnell is 81! He is a senator from Kentucky who very much plays a role in decisions.
It is especially frustrating for me to watch people make horrible decisions that they will never face consequences for. I will have to deal with the decisions they make because in 20-30 years they likely won’t be around and it will not affect them.
Am I suggesting electing a younger person just because they are young? No. Someone being qualified is a very important factor. For instance Ron DeSantis is 44, but I think he would be a horrible president as well. I wish both parties could just pick an actual qualified candidate who will be good for the country. I know that won’t happen though, therefore I am not looking forward to the next election.
