TO THE EDITOR:With comments about sightings of black bears in our area, and one being killed in DeKalb County, the question arises about whether a black bear would attack and kill our livestock, or even a child.A news report I read stated the man who killed the black bear was cited. According to the article, he can face five years and a $5,000 fine.If the man wandered into a park and killed the bear, most of us would agree he acted irresponsibly. But when any animal comes into your yard that you consider a threat to you or a family member, it's a different story.Some time back, a man in Florida killed an alligator in his yard.
