TO THE EDITOR:The Tennessee state legislature has found a way to slip a tax increase over on us and it is called the “Tennessee Choice and Opportunity Scholarship Act,” aka the private school voucher bill. It would use your tax dollars to send poor children, among others, to private schools in Tennessee. This looks like a grand piece of compassionate legislation on the outside, but all it really does is pander to the private school industry while causing our public schools to become more underfunded than ever.
