TO THE EDITOR:
Most people are familiar with the saying, "There's no such thing as a free lunch."
Even if you personally do not have to pay for the meal, someone did. Last October I moved to McMinnville and soon heard about the Community Greeting Service.
Judy Gribble gave me and my wife several coupons for free meals at some of the local restaurants. We used them and enjoyed the food but I knew very well the business owner was footing the bill hoping to generate repeat business. I bring that up to point out there is no such thing as free public education in our country.
It may be considered free from the standpoint the students do not have to pay tuition to take the classes. However, that hardly means the education is free. Tax dollars are used to finance the public education system. I really wish people would stop calling it a free education. It is not.
