House scandal should be investigated

OUR VIEWPOINT The Warren County Commission voted last week to authorize $93,000 from this year’s budget to pay for a FEMA grant that went awry during the administration of former County Executive Kenneth Rogers, who was in office from 2002-06.Since the measure has already been voted on and approved, we can say that’s $93,000 in taxpayer dollars that are being squandered because an official agreement with FEMA wasn’t executed properly. This is a $93,000 bill Warren County taxpayers should not be held responsible for.The Standard has been informed county attorney Larry Stanley is looking into possible legal action so the county can attempt to recoup this lost money from one of the participants involved. This is the right course of action. This newspaper firmly supports a rigorous investigation to better determine what went wrong with obtaining this FEMA grant and using it properly.
