The online headlines are alarming. One, from an organization called the Tennessee Equality Project, proclaims “Stand against the hate of Minister Ben Bailey of Central Church of Christ in McMinnville.”Another headline on the website Raw Story says, “Tennessee pastor lashes out against liberal society.”This online outcry was in response to a sermon preached Sunday by our very own Ben Bailey that aired on “The Gospel of Christ” TV program. In the sermon, which was very good, Bailey talked about how God doesn’t embrace a relaxed society where women are allowed to preach and where gay marriage is given the OK. In talking about homosexuality, Bailey said in the sermon, “It’s an abomination that under the Old Testament deserved stoning.”It’s that statement which has been contorted to suggest Bailey supports a stoning death for all homosexuals.
