In an interesting bit of statistical trivia, the UT Vol football website says the team averaged 100,584 fans for its seven home games at Neyland Stadium this year. Many of those fans are probably thinking the Vols could have gone undefeated this season, a perfect 12-0, had the football beaches been filled with just a little more sunshine. The Vols had to try – I mean really try – to surrender a two TD lead and lose to Oklahoma in OT. Shortly thereafter was a torturous 28-27 loss to Florida, and a 24-20 loss to Arkansas.A 19-14 loss in Alabama was a game that was never out of reach. But for those of us who were able to emerge from under our beds after that early season nightmare, we watched the Vols rattle off five straight wins to finish 8-4. Now we’re left to wonder where UT will land in the annual pastime known as bowl-game roulette. From everything I can determine from people who care far more about college football than I ever will, the best-case scenario for the Vols is a berth in the Citrus Bowl. The Citrus Bowl is a pretty big deal, played in magical Orlando, Fla., on New Year’s Day.The bowl pits the SEC against the Big Ten and Tennessee has a 4-1 record in Citrus Bowl appearances.
Everlasting Joy 12-2
