Like a magic trick gone horribly wrong, local residents have watched the condition of Sunnyside Heights deteriorate before our very eyes.The potholes have grown from minor annoyances to gaping holes capable of swallowing a tire and ruining an alignment. The road is in awful condition, nothing short of an embarrassment, for a city that has taken recent pride for moving in the right direction.There's one thing that seemed a certainty about Sunnyside Heights. The road was never going to be upgraded unless it was done by the city of McMinnville.For years, city officials contended it was not their responsibility to repair the road, that it was built by a private developer and was on private property.
