W.R. Sims, 75

Mr. W.R. Sims, 75, of Morrison died Monday, Aug. 27, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

He was born May 27, 1943 in Lexington, Ala., served his country as a sergeant with the 101st Airborne division of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, was a supervisor with Carrier Air Conditioning where he was employed for 30 years, and a member of Shady Grove The Baptist Church. Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Ines Barnett Sims.

Survivors include his wife Janell Whitlock Sims, mother Dessie Sims, children Marsha (Doug) Beecham, Martha (Lebron) Ferguson, and Keith (Rhonda) Sims, grandchildren Jessica Beecham (Kevin Kovacs), Lora Beecham (Richard Turnage), Hayden Ferguson, Haylee Ferguson, Bailey Sims, and Keragan Sims, great-grandchild Emberlynn Ferguson, and many family friends.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Barry Whiteaker will officiate. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. The Sims family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
