McMinnville resident and Warren County native William Douglas “Billy” Cartwright, 77, was born Feb. 28, 1935 and died Oct. 26 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.He was a retired teacher and assistant principal for 41 years with the Warren County School System and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ.He was the son of the late Otto and Nora Mullican Cartwright. He was married to his wife of 48 years, Betty Sue Ramsey Cartwright, who preceded him in death Oct. 23, 2008.He is survived by one daughter, Marlene Cartwright of Decatur, Ala.; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and LeAnn Cartwright of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Zachery and Ethan Cartwright, both of McMinnville; mother-in-law, Avare Ramsey of Morrison; and brother-in-law, Larry Ramsey Sr., of Lebanon.Funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in High’s Chapel with Jonathan Stubblefield officiating.
