Willa Mae Young, 95

McMinnville resident and Independence, Mo. native Willa Mae Young, 95, was born Nov. 20, 1928 and died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 6, 2024 following an extended illness. 

A homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Salley Barnard. She was married to Gordon Young for 59 years who preceded her in death in 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Janice Condra.

Mrs. Young was fortunate to be a part of five generations. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Charles) Quinn and Carol (Tim) Hughes, both of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Candie (Trey) Dyer, Jamie (Joe) Roller and Kayla Hughes, all of McMinnville and Stephanie Hughes of Franklin; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Dyer (Ber Bess), Leah Dyer (Ross Cannon), Ethan Roller and Madison Roller; great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy and MaKylee Sullivan and son-in-law, David Condra of Rossville, Ga. 

Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville with Harry Green officiating. No visitation will be held at High’s and family and friends will meet at the cemetery. 

The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Gentiva Hospice, their staff and all the volunteers at Meals on Wheels for their wonderful care during this time. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.
