Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Wayne Grissom, 54, was born April 3, 1959 and died Sept. 6 at his residence following an extended illness.Retired from Burroughs-Ross-Colville, he was the son of Glen Grissom of Rock Island and the late Melvania Faye Miller Grissom. In addition to his father, he is survived by his father’s wife, Sue Grissom of Rock Island; two sisters and brother-in-law, Glenda Cox of Rock Island, and Kendra and Mitchell Bass of McMinnville; brother, Randy Grissom of McMinnville; stepbrother, Lee Cummings of Rock Island; aunt, Elizabeth Boles of Doyle; and uncles, Ed Grissom and wife Edith of the Piney community and Billy Miller and Bobby Miller, both of Spencer.A memorial service will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 in High’s Chapel with Dwight Henry officiating.High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.)
