McMinnville resident and Shelby County native Walter Leonard Bourgeois, 73, was born June 22, 1945 and died June 4 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness.

He was retired from the military as a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps, Army and the TN Army National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was the son of the late Walter Leonard Bourgeois Sr., and Aileen Joyce Talbert.

He was married Aug. 8, 2008 to Vicki Lynn Bourgeois of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Lynn of Viola, and Renee Montandon and husband Russell of Viola, nephew Ethan Montandon; and niece Eleanor Montandon.

Burial was Friday, June 7, at Mt. View Cemetery with Jeff Owens officiating. Military honors were administered by the Marine Corps League, Bobby Ray Detachment. There was no visitation or service at High's. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
