Virginia Mae Marchbanks, 88

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Ione Virginia Mae Marchbanks, 88, was born May 17, 1927 and died April 9 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness.
A retired housekeeper and member of East End Drive Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Ruby Spurlock Smith Sr. She was married to Arthur Joe Marchbanks, who preceded her in death in 1969. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Jimmy Smith; two brothers, Billy and Louis Smith; sister, Kathleen Smith; and three dear friends, Nannie Martin, Virginia Woodard and Carrie Hogan.
She is survived by two daughters, Marcia Ramsey and Joyce Marchbanks, both of McMinnville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip Smith Jr. of Morrison and J.L. Smith of the Jacksboro community; sister Ann Grayson of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law Theresa Smith of McMinnville; brother-in-law Paul Marchbanks and wife Fannie of Knoxville; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at High’s Chapel with George King officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 1 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at High’s.
