Virginia E. Kirby, 88, a McMinnville resident and Tipton County native, was born Aug. 15, 1928 and died July 26 in NHC Healthcare of McMinnville following an extended illness.She was a retired nurses’ aide with Baptist Hospital in Memphis, member of the Church of Christ at Earlyville and daughter of the late Ollie B. and Jessie Butler Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by first husband, James Francis Cook; and grandson, Kelly Leadford.Mrs. Kirby was married June 20, 1987 to James Edward Kirby, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Diane Cook of McMinnville and Eric and Kathy Cook of Covington; daughter and son-in-law, Bruna and David Leadford of Covington; five stepchildren and spouses, Betty and Ronnie Whitlock of Smithville, Eddie and Chris Kirby of Blytheville, AR, Terry and Anita Kirby, Larry and Debbie Kirby and Mike Kirby, all of McMinnville; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
