Rock Island resident and Durham, N.C., native Victor Bryant Harris, 71, was born Aug. 26, 1950 and died Feb. 20 at his home in the care of his wife Paula L. Harris, his family and Caris Healthcare.
A retired self-employed car salesman, he was the son of the late Doyle and Betty Faye Malone Harris. He was married to Paula L. Harris. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Victor Bryant Harris of Los Angeles, CA; stepchildren, J.P. Bassett of Richmond, Va., Jennifer Hensley of Mechanicsville, Va., and Kelly Schoolfield of Wasilla, AK; 13 step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, sisters Poppy Harris of Carey, N.C., and Susan Daniels of Tampa, Fla., brother Miller Harris of Holly Springs, N.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside gathering officiated by son-in-law Joe Schoolfield at Bybee Chapel Cemetery in Rock Island on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. There will be no service or visitation at High’s.
