Veston Herman Gillis, 83, of Decaturville died Feb. 1 at Decatur County General Hospital.He was born Sept. 20, 1930 in Broxton, Ga., to the late Herman and Pauline Solomon Gillis. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Vernon (Bo) Eugene and Dorothy Jean Van Hooser Gillis; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Pauline Gillis and Raymond O. Stiles Jr.; and mother of his children, Jo Ann Hendrixson Gillis Bishop.He was a retired auto parts manager in Murfreesboro and retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard with the rank of major. He faithfully served for 26 years.
