Morrison resident and Warren County native Vernon Douglas “Chigger” Parker, 80, was born Oct. 11, 1942 and died Feb. 12, 2023 at his residence following a short illness.
A retired employee of Batesville Casket Company, 23-year employee of Century Electric and member of Morrison Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Alvin CeeYork and Lavonia May Walker Parker. He was married to Dianne Parker of Morrison on Nov. 24, 1988.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Parker is survived by two daughters, Tina (Bubba) Hatcliff and Demetria Gipson, both of Woodbury, TN; three grandsons, Jared (Brianna) Parker of Cleveland, TN and Parker Hatcliff and Easton Hatcliff, both of Woodbury; brother, Howard “Egypt” (Pat) Parker of Morrison; two aunts, Joyce Ann Simmons of Morrison and Faye Campbell of McMinnville and three nieces, Michelle (Tony) Stamps, Mary Jo (Glenn) Pollock and Melanie Parker.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at Morrison Church of Christ with Chris Perry and Roger Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at High’s and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at Morrison Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at High’s to Boyd Christian School or mailed to the school at 806 Morrison Street, McMinnville, TN 37110.
