Rock Island resident and Warren County native Vernice Lafayette Dunlap, 77, was born April 13, 1947 and died April 18, 2024 following a sudden illness.
The retired owner of Dunlap Dozer and member of Corinth Church of Christ, he was the son of the late W.T. “Toome” and Louvene Dunlap. He was married May 23, 1992 to Yalta Jane Gay Dunlap who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Rick Wilson.
Mr. Dunlap is survived by daughter, Sandy Wilson of McMinnville; sons, Billy (Cristie) Dunlap and Alan (Kim) Young both of Rock Island; grandchildren, Cole (Hailey) Taylor, Kendra Bain, Mitchell (Shelby) Young and Austin (Brooke) Young; great-grandchildren, Leyton and Lynlee Taylor and Maks, Maddi, Carolina Grace and Maylee Jayne Young; sister, Cindy (Michael) Cooper of Rock Island; brother, Elton (Barbara) Dunlap of Rock Island and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 22 at Old Bybee Chapel Cemetery in Warren County with Kim Milligan to officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until noon at High’s.
