Verda Dean Fisher Poss, a native of Warren County, went to her heavenly reward Friday, March 24, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Verda was the daughter of the late John Wiley and Sarah Belle Green Fisher.  She was a retired worker from A.O. Smith and a faithful member of the North Hills Dr Church of God of Prophecy.  She loved her Lord and worked for Him all her life.  She worked hard in all that she endeavored to do.

Verda is survived by her loving children, Vickie Gilbert (Allen) of Pikeville, Tenn.; Douglas Poss of McMinnville and Rhonda Jones of North Aurora, Ill.; four grandchildren, Amy Owens (Brandon), Krissy Heard (Joshua), Chasity Poss and Catherine Nessling (Clayton), ten great grandchildren; Phoenix Owens, Joshua, Jalen and Jada Heard, Donnivin and Cheyenne Johnson, Adalynn Nessling, Adalaide, Elias and Jameson Jones; and two sisters, Bertha Pack (Willie) and Linda Simmons.  Many nieces and nephews also survive as well as a whole host of friends.

Preceding her in death was her grandson, Joshua Jones; four brothers, Floyd Fisher, Arthur (Geneva) Fisher, William “Billy” (Willie Mae) Fisher and James Wilson Fisher; four sisters, Elliott Warren, Mona (Arthur G,) Hale, Helen (Arville T.) Hale, Johnnie (Marvin) Jackson and brother-in-law, Carl M. Simmons.

Verda leaves us all with so many wonderful memories to cherish until we meet again.  She touched the lives of many and was incredibly loved as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all.

A special thanks to care givers Jessica Angel and Judy Deweese who cared for her with deep devotion.  Thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their care and support during this time.

Funeral services will be conducted by Danny Hale and Michael Harris on Tuesday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Monday, March 27 from noon to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning until time of service.  Burial will follow at Old Bybee Cemetery.
