Morrison resident and Cheatham County native Velma Fay Maggart, 78, was born Feb. 11, 1936 and died Dec. 12 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness.
A homemaker and a member of Ivy Bluff Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late George Wesley and Minnie Hazel Barnes Adcock. She was married in 1950 to Hollis Edgar Maggart, who preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2009.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Tony and Shirley Maggart of Bradyville, Reba and Darrell Milburn of McMinnville, Judy and Richard Miller of Pennsylvania, Jerry and Glena Maggart of Florida, and Julie and Hamilton Hobbs of McMinnville; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Frances Judkins of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in High’s Chapel with Brian Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at High’s.
