Thomas Richard Lekki, 68, of McMinnville, died Thursday, Aug. 18, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
He was born Oct. 28, 1947 in Detroit, Mich., was a retired metallurgical engineer with General Motors, a member of the Cattlemen’s Association, and a member of the Church of Christ at Unity. Mr. Lekki was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Veronica Drenzek Lekki.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Melton Lekki of McMinnville; sons, Chris (Kayla) Lekki of McMinnville and Matthew Lekki of South Carolina; grandchildren, Aleigha Lekki, Jon Lekki, and Ella Breann Lekki; siblings, John Lekki, Daniel Lekki, Veronica Herman, and Cynthia Lekki all of Michigan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Beverly Melton. Several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be noon Monday, Aug. 22, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Harold Cook will officiate. Interment will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. The Lekki family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
