Mrs. Sue Roberts, 84, a DeKalb County native and resident of Warren County, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, after an extended illness.
She was born May 5, 1934, in Smithville and passed at her home with her family at her side. Sue was retired from Homeland Community Bank, City Bank and Trust, and Formfit Rogers for over 30 years. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Dalton Pirtle Sr., and Claudia Alice Cantrell Pirtle and was also preceded in death by infant brothers Royce and Paul Pirtle, brothers Billy Pirtle and Jack Pirtle, and sister and brother-in-law Helen and Eugene Webb.
She was married Dec. 24, 1954 to her loving husband of 64 years Charles Clark Roberts. Survivors also include her son Greg (Mary) Roberts, daughter Claudia (Brad) Hillis, grandchildren Toshia (Darrid) Wells and Jesse (Melissa) Hillis, great-grandchildren Crimson Ray Wells, Kimber Ruth Wells, and Zoey Grace Hillis, brother Lonnie Dalton Pirtle Jr., sister Janice (Gary) Bryant, step-granddaughters Janice and Julie, aunt Ruth Cantrell, and sisters-in-law Joyce Pirtle and Faye Mix. She also left behind several nieces and nephews and she touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rickey Burks and Eddie Reed will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 8 p.m., and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
