Rock Island resident and Warren County native Stephen Douglas Turner, 64, was born Nov. 15, 1950 and died April 16 at his residence following an extended illness.
The owner and mechanic at Shade Tree Repair, a United States Army veteran of Vietnam, and a member of the New Bybee Methodist Church, he was the son of the late B.K. Turner and Dorothy Turner Gillette. He was married July 12, 1969 to Linda Harris Turner, who preceded him in death May 24, 2007. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law Bobby Harris.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Bob Black of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Autumn Turner of Rock Island; grandchild, Tony Curtis of McMinnville; halfsister, Gena Gillette Tilton of Bell Buckle; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorie and Tim Woodlee of Spencer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny and Teresa Harris of Viola; mother-in-law Fay Harris of Viola; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. in High’s Parlor. There will be no service.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
