Mrs. Sharon Jane Duncan Womack, 71, of McMinnville died Thursday, Aug. 30, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
She was born Jan. 19, 1947, in McMinnville, and was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. A leader in her community and church, she was the family matriarch and celebrated cook and always was known for her hugs and kisses. Mrs. Womack was a longtime member of Lucky CIC and Providence Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Hill Duncan and Shirley Dell Eldridge Parker.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years John Thomas (Tommy) Womack, children Janet (Lynn) Blair and Jonathan (Shelly) Womack, grandchildren Tyler (Leia) Blair, Dylan Blair, Chalee Womack and Jon Collin Womack, great-grandchildren Leilynn Smith and Ryder Blair, sister Mercalene Rigsby, brother Curtis Duncan, siblings-in-law Ann (Richard) Walker, Marie Mabe, Ruth (Wayne) Walker, Jimmy (Gail) Womack, Linda Whitlock, Marylou (Don) Woodlee, Helen (Garry) Gillentine and David (Louise) Womack. Many nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Providence Baptist Church. Bro. Jackie Matheny and Bro. Jerry Womack will officiate. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Womack and Bro. Tommy Womack officiating at graveside. The Womack family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m., and again Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
