Roger Kent Cook, 78

Roger Kent Cook, 78, a Warren County native and resident, was born June 12, 1939 and died March 29 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital following a five-week illness.

He was a popular column writer for the Southern Standard for 50 years, a member of Bybee Branch Church of Christ and son of the late Leaman and Elva Golden Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Leaman Golden Cook and Dale Cook.

Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Blanche Cook, and Larry and Zella Cook, all of McMinnville; sister, Betty Fletcher of Long Beach, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at High’s Chapel with Tony Lawrence and Wayne Cantrell to officiate. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday until the time of service at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
