Roena Barr Fuson was born Jan. 13, 1932 in DeKalb County to the late Monroe and Bertha Hutchins Barr. She passed away Oct. 14 at Manchester Health Care Center in Manchester following an extended illness.
She was retired from the banking industry and a member of Smartt First Baptist Church. She loved her church and church family. She went on two mission trips to Brazil while she was a member of the church.
She was married to Lonnie Fuson, who preceded her in death in 2017. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Barr Vinson, Geneva Barr Carroll, and Erma Barr, and three brothers Solon Barr, Leo Barr, and William Monroe Barr.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Taylor Ventress (Larry) and Karen Taylor Jensen, son Ray Taylor (Carmen), granddaugther Mikalaa Taylor Carter (Tommy), great-grandsons Ayden and Coltyn Carter, sister Chris Barr Bouldin, two brothers Earl Barr (Hazel) and Gene Barr (Pat), two stepdaughters Laura DeLay (Stephen) and Karen Martin (Jamie), two step-grandsons Mitchell and Michael DeLay, 21 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Bascom Cemetery in Warren County with Doyle Sherrill and Gene Barr officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
