Roberta Smith Beard Cunningham, 90, died March 1 at the home of her son, Eddie, with family by her side.
She was a retired seamstress at Red Cap Garment Company and member of the Church of Christ at Mt. Della.
She was born Oct. 4, 1925 in McMinnville to the late James Alexander and Rosie Lee Mathis Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, James William “J.W.” Beard; second husband, Thurston Cunningham; infant son, James Douglas Beard; granddaughter, Donna Grissom; two brothers, Fred and Martin Smith; and daughter-in-law, Sydney Rogers Beard.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Beard of Spencer and Ernest “Eddie” Beard and wife Wanda of the Fall Creek Falls community; two grandsons, Matt Beard and wife Amanda and Tyler Spoonemore; three great-grandsons, David Young and wife Cady, Sam Grissom and Riley Beard; great-great-grandson, David “D” Young; great-great-granddaughter, Carliegh Young; sister, Virginia “Jo” Rhea; and dear friend, Laura “Shorty” Dodson.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at High’s Chapel with Greg Pickett to officiate. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday until time of service at High’s.
