Rita Faye Nash, 58, of McMinnville, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville.

She was born Nov. 30, 1959, in McMinnville, attended Centertown United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her mother, Dessie Brown Gay.

Survivors include her children, Stacey Lynn Walker, Charlene (Marquez) Moss, Angel (Chad) Young, and Curtis (Leah) Nash, grandchildren, Alexis Farless, Matthew Ferrell, Breaunna Ferrell, Katlyn Moss, Griffin Young, Easton Young, Emma Nash and Whitney Nash, two great-grandchildren; sister, Jean (Wayne) Shehane; brothers, Tim Gay, Bill Gay and David Lee Gay and wife Diane; former husband and best friend, Scott Nash; and surrogate mother, Earlene Jennings. Several nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at Centertown United Methodist Church. Rev. Don Spencer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church. Online condolences may be made at

Shelby LeAnn Comer, 20

Shelby LeAnn Comer, 20, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23 at the STRHS-Sewanee Hospital.  She was born in Smithville on Oct. 23, 1997. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Della Faye Herrin, Sam and Emma Comer, Donnie and Patricia Richardson; aunt, Kimberly Spakes.

She is survived by her mother, Mary (Tony) Nabors; father, Ray (Amanda) Comer; brothers, Aaron and Landon Comer; aunt, Helen (Alex) Hartz; several cousin and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with ministers, Vernon “Bud” Whitman and Jason Rymer officiating with burial to follow in the Grace Chapel Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Layne Funeral Home in Altamont.
