McMinnville resident and Atlanta, Ga., native Ralph Melson, 85, was born May 14, 1933 and died September 27, 2018 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness.


A retired nursery worker and a member of the Pentecostal Church, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Alvia Mackmoore Melson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Ricky, George and Jr. Melson; and great-grandson, Doug Nelson.


He was married to Annie Jones Melson of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children and their spouses, Carolyn and Jr. Manus, Patricia and David Ferrell, Ruby and James Nelson, and Edna King all of McMinnville, and David Melson of Louisiana; four step-children, Alice Clayton, Linda Burns, Tommy Clayton and Ella Adams all of McMinnville; twenty-four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Destiny Melson; and several nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 29, at High’s Chapel with Sammy Lee officiating. Burial followed at Shellsford Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com
