Oscar Groves, 93, a McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native died March 25 in River Park Hospital following and extended illness.He was a retired employee of Genesco, a longtime Church of Christ minister and member of Bethany Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Willie Lee and Linnie Hillis Groves. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Daisy Martin Groves Sept. 8, 2012; daughter, Peggy June Copeland; sisters, Nellie Thomison and Emogene Harvey and brothers, Leo, Haskell and Clyde Groves.Mr. Groves is survived by nieces, Judy Kelsey of McMinnville, and Theresa Bryant of Hixson; son-in-law, Thomas Wayne Copeland, Morrison; brother-in-law, James Thomison, McMinnville; several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 28 in High's Chapel with David Costello and Titus Ward officiating.
