Opal Virginia Stephens, 88, of McMinnville died Thursday, Sept. 13 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. She was born July 14, 1924 in McCreary County, Ky., and was a retired factory worker, and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Dora Alice Kidd Solomon, and siblings Gracie Helton, Lillie, William, Albert, Luther, George, and Manuel Solomon.Survivors include her children, Donald Ray Thomas, Carolyn and Dennis Young, Charlotte Maxey, and Gary W. and Doris Stephens, all of McMinnville; sister Mary Cooper of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, David Thomas, Gwendolyn Davis, Bradley Young, Michelle Pence, Melissa Oakes, Dylan, and Katelyn Stephens; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Logan, Ryan, Shelbi, Ali, Brianna, MacKenzie, Emily Kate, Sophi, and Rawley, and special caregiver Debbie McBride.Funeral service is at noon today at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.
