Mrs. Opal Faye Nunley, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. She was born in McMinnville on March 13, 1941 to William Horton Hobbs and Ida Mai Fults Hobbs, who preceded her in death along with her husband, Kermit Ray Nunley, and sister, Juanita Hobbs.She owned and operated Nunley’s Grocery “Opal’s” in Altamont right up until her health declined. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Tracy City.She is survived by son, Wade (Lisa) Nunley; daughter, Odell (Gary) Childers; brother, Douglas (Joyce) Hobbs; sisters, Linda (Charles) Childers and Treva (Larry) Campbell; grandchildren, Erik (Heather) Childers, Misty (Michael) Griffith, Cody (Brittney) Childers, Hunter, Carson and Allie Nunley; great-grandchildren, Madison and Macie Childers; and several loving nieces and nephews.Funeral service was Feb. 16 at Layne Funeral Home chapel with ministers Craig Kimbro, Charles and Willie Childers officiating with burial following at Airview Cemetery.Layne Funeral Home, www.laynefuneralhome.com, was in charge of arrangements.
