Nora Alene Measles, 87, of Spencer died Sunday, Aug. 13, in Spencer.
Alene was born Friday, Nov. 1, 1929 in Van Buren County. She was the daughter of the late Simon Hodges and the late Lizzie Sparkman Hodges.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Measles and wife Vivian, Johnny Measles and wife Sandy, two grandchildren, Bryan Measles and wife Kandi, John Curtis Measles and wife Jennifer, six great-grandchildren, Kyra, Peyton, Gage, Anna Grace, Ty Curtis, and Reagan, five sisters-in-law, Billie Ruth Martin, Jean Sparkman, Rhea Davis, Emogene Hodges, and Joene Hodges, special niece, Shirley Haley, special nephew, Larry Yates, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents, Alene was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Measles, sister Audrey Yates, and five brothers, Raymond Hodges, Charles W. Hodges, Hermon Hodges, Thurman Hodges, and Roy Hodges.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Spencer Funeral Home with Nathan Haynes and Tom Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at Spencer Town Cemetery in Spencer.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spencer Funeral Home, 16000 Hwy 111 N., Spencer. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Spencer Town Cemetery. Donations can be given to Margaret Lovell, 185 Turkey Scratch Rd. Spencer 38585 or left at the funeral home for the cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at spencerfuneralhome.net.
