Mr. Neal Wayne O’Neal, 78, of Spencer died Friday, July 8, at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga. 

He was born Dec. 9, 1943, in Cumberland County, TN, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was preceded in death by his parents Robert Shelton and Geneva Ellen Black O’Neal, his wife of 50 years Mary Virginia Brymer O’Neal, and brothers Randy Delano O’Neal, James Flynn O’Neal, and Robert Glenn O’Neal. Mr. O’Neal was a tenured educator who retired as Superintendent of Schools with the Van Buren County School System.

Survivors include sisters Sue Sharbano, Wanda (Bob) Martin, and Kathy Jordan, and brothers William Keith O’Neal and Hugh (Teresia) O’Neal, his wife Mary’s family including Jay Brymer, Charles Brymer, and Kristen, Megan, and Phillip Brymer. Several nieces, nephews, family members, students, and many friends also survive.

A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Cummingsville Cemetery in Van Buren County. Bro. James Dukes will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Friday. There will be no visitation at the funeral home as family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mary O’Neal Scholarship Fund at Van Buren County High School, 293 Sparta Street, Spencer, TN 38585. Online condolences may be made at
