Nancy Prater Basham, 84

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Nancy Prater Basham, 84, was born Jan. 6, 1937 and died July 4 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following a brief illness.             

A retired bank teller from First National Bank and a member of Bethany Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Alexander and Lauretta Allen Prater. She was married to Charles Edward Basham, who preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister Annie Ellen Curtis.

Mrs. Basham is survived by brother and sister-in-law, William Charles and Linda Prater of McMinnville, sister and brother-in-law Kathy Frances and Kelly Hodges of Atlanta, Ga., and several nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Nancy was a lady well known for her kind nature and deep love for family. In her early years, she enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, and helping Charles in the nursery business. Nancy never met a stranger and will be missed by many.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Bethany Cemetery in Warren County with David Costello officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at High’s. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Cemetery Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
