Nadean ONeal, 88

Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Nadean O'Neal, 88, was born May 12, 1925 and died May 4 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness.
A librarian at Van Buren County High School, she attended Laurel Creek Baptist Church and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ida Cecile Barlow Cummings.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, D.L. and Clayton Cummings.
Mrs. O’Neal’s greatest pride and joy was raising her sons and watching her grandchildren grow. She was a kind, sweet, caring and amazingly strong woman with a great sense of humor.  Her hobbies included crocheting, dancing and baking.
 She is survived by two sons, Larry O’Neal of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Darrell (Kimberly) O’Neal of Rock Island; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many friends.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Long Cemetery with Roy Terry officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
