Muriel R. Vaughn, 56, was born July 2, 1937 in Colon, Panama to Iris Francis Ramsey. She departed this life on Monday, Dec. 10.

Muriel was educated in Panama and the Warren County School System. She was a graduate of Benard High School. She attended Lemoyne-Owen College in Memphis. She was a member of East End Drive Church of Christ. After countless years of working at Century-Magnetek, she retired to pursue traveling and serving numerous community service organizations, such as the Red Hatters.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother Vernal Ramsey Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband Elzie L. Vaughn of McMinnville; three children and spouses, Valerie D. Vaughn-Martin and husband Deric of Crown Point, Ind., John L. and Laticia Vaughn of Dalton, Ga., and Antonio Delanio Vaughn of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Tainayah W. Thomas, Nykeisha S. Vaughn, Amber N. Vaughn, Jamall L. Vaughn, Antwaun L. Vaughn and Anslee G. Crick; sister Bertina Obispo of Los Angeles, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at High’s Chapel with Michael Dowell, Phillip Smith Jr., and Jerry Rutledge officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery at Martin Charge. The wake will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
